SomepIace in Manali by Put Your Hands Together – The project at Manali is a homestay called, – Someplace and we got a chance to work on this through Noel, my former student. Eventually he also became the on-site architect for this project. When Areen visited the site in November 2016, all he could see was a piece of land covered thigh-high in snow keeping the visit aside, all he could think about was that warm bed back in the hotel where he would rather be tucked in at that time. This exact feeling of longing for the warmth became the concept of our design.
Located in Kayamkulam, Kerala, House of three is a combination of the charm and humbleness of agrarian culture and lifestyle to suit the residential needs of a three-member family. It is designed by Kerala based architects, Rahul Venugopal.
The Light Box – Restroom For Women in Thane, Teen Haath Naka by RC Architects – The design of the restroom has been conceptualized around a tree for two reasons. One to express the idea of integrating nature and context in the built form and using its characteristics to protect from climate.
Designed by Lucknow-based practice, Prayogshalaa, the project is low-cost ecological housing for BGIS ISKCON’s new school’s teachers, set on a budget of one crore rupees.
The Hilltop school was a zakat-run school, functioning out of a large makeshift warehouse for four years. The featured project, designed by DesignAware, is a low-energy school building on its neighbouring parcel of land to provide the students with a suitable learning environment.
This convention centre, designed by Masonry of Architects, is a multi-utility space accommodating activities like yoga, chantings and lodgings with utilitarian spaces.
In this project, the aim was to create green urban living, to rekindle the relationship of the residents with nature in their immediate surroundings. The villa emerged from the landscape, with the central theme being creating maximum green cover on site and utilize the views of the park facing the site. Built and landscape blend into each other, with indoor spaces opening into the green seamlessly.
Kalkeri Learning Centre in Kalkeri, Dharwad by Kumar La Noce
The concept of the project evolved from a close analysis of the family setups of large Indian families in the urban context, thus striving for a perfect balance between private and public spaces and also the interrelation between the generations.
Studio Motley’s Competition entry for the Council of Architecture’s Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru envisioned the Centre as a place which is important and relevant not just to architects, but to the entire community. Through their design they instigate and encourage a culture of openness, multiplicity and adaptability and find ways for the profession to connect to the city and its inhabitants.
