Pond Grove & The Fabric by Fictional project- a proposal made in the heart of Kozhikode has to be robust in accommodating its social nature. In the spirit of being united in the face of differences, the proposal has to bring in social spaces for interaction where people feel safe and a sense of belonging.
Dyeing Calico, Moving On Stitch By Stitch, by Finder Studio, intends to approach the issue not just by stitching up these ‘voids’ to restore the fabric to its original glory, but to give colours to the new socio-economic-cultural layers it creates.
Verukal Design Studio’s design proposal- Collective Memory As A Tool To Revive The Mananchira Precinct, Kozhikode, hinges largely on the ‘collective memory’ of the Mananchira precinct, at the same time adapting to the newer notions of public space.
Revive Kozhikode, by A’FACTREE proposes to revive the Comtrust factory building as a heritage museum, and reweave it with the Mananchira pond so that they are all percieved as one and the museum becomes an inevitable component of experience and celebration.
Resurrect by Studio 3 am, proposes a space where one can experience the glorious era of the weaving factory, when it was at its full pace.
Curated by Architect Syam Sreesylam, the Comtrust Weaving Factory Photography Exhibition was exhibited at the IIA Young Architects Festival 2022, held in Calicut and organized by the IIA Calicut Centre.
