Set amidst expansive Cardamom plantations on steep terrain areas in Thekkady, Kerala, a set of cabins have been designed to nestle within a sea of green. Responding to a brief for a boutique resort, the project includes five independent cabins, an outdoor pool with adjacent stepped decks and a spa block divided into three interconnected volumes all raised on stilts. – Kumar La Noce

Community Canvas is an extra classroom designed by pk_iNCEPTiON in a rural school in Nashik, Maharashtra. Along with learning, the space is designed as a canvas for multiple uses- such as workshops, functions, and social gatherings.
Project called for design of group housing comprising of units of multiple sizes catering to various income group, sizes ranging from 1200 to 2400 sqft. We started with a vision of creating architecture for the community wellbeing and active lifestyle in a holistic way. KrushiBhawan is a facility developed for Government of Odisha’s Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment; the 130,000 sq.ft administrative centre has been designed as an office for a team of nearly 600 people, in addition to accommodating spaces for community engagement and learning. – Studio Lotus

This villa in Embassy Boulevard for a family of six had a plot area of 7700 sq. ft. and was completed in the year 2018. The client’s requirement was an elegant looking, contemporary villa. The ambience achieved is contemporary, but at the same time, reflects a calm and positive vibe. – White Shadows Design Studio
‘Pause’, is a multifaceted restroom complex located along India’s Bombay-goa highway, on the way to the Karnala bird sanctuary. Taking cues from other public utilities, including London’s famous telephone booths, post boxes, and buses, all colored in red, ‘pause’ is painted in the same color to allow passers-by to quickly identify its public facilities in the urban landscape – RC Architects
BalasahebthackeraySmrutiUdyan is located on a triangular green patch in front of the National Gallery of Modern Art and Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj VastuSanghrahalay. The triangle is divided in three parts, the first part is a green patch. The second part is a crossover pedestrian plaza and the third part is a garden for the statue and the pedestal. The ‘House That Rains Light’ re-imagines dappled shade under the trees, informal kids play nooks, gardens with flowers, birds and butterflies, all lost to rapid urbanization, while being confined to a tight plot within a typical residential layout.
Owners, a young couple with their two kids, wanted a house that broke free from conventions, displaying a sense of individuality and character in the spaces that enveloped them, without being a burden on their simple ways of living. They also hoped the building would transcend the small footprint on site and become a multi-spatial/sensory experience for their kids to grow up in. – LIJO.RENY.architects
Zostel at Panchgani, the hostel for backpackers, designed by Madhav Joshi and Associates, is situated near a hill station Panchgani, the strawberry capital of India in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. Design has evolved in response to the need of backpackers (18 to 40 years of age) for safe, comfortable and hygienic place to stay at a scenic location while traveling on a shoestring budget.
Situated in fringes of Ahmedabad, the house is spread over 460 sqmt of land. The brief of the project was to design an introvert house for three generation of the family. The design idea was to respond to the climate and hence orientation. An introvert house which is opaque to the outside and open to the inside. Given the rectangular geometry of the plot, the idea was to place the functions in a linear fashion along the length with a puncture in between to bring in light and ventilation. – Urbscapes
The ten thousand square foot beauty salon is a combination of mezzanine spaces (used for speciality treatments and offices) and double height purpose-built cabins interspersed with a series of glass planes with graphic motifs. These elements, individually varied and collectively orchestrated define spaces that provide for the varying degrees of privacy needed in a beauty salon. – RLDA STUDIO
Our client was the owner of one of South India’s largest printing and publishing houses and also a family of 2nd generation politicians. Along with his wife and three children they were a family of 5, but the requirement was to have close extended family visit often. The site was on a serene hillock nestled in a clearing within 150 acres of dense coffee plantations. Our first impression was that of lush vertical trees with pepper vines growing on them and coffee plants beneath. There was an existing ancestral home on the site halfway through renovation, that needed to be re-imagined. – Sandeep Khosla and Amaresh Anand, Khosla Associates.
