SpaceMatters is hiring a Project Architect with 4–6 years of experience in New Delhi/NCR to join our collaborative, interdisciplinary studio and work on impactful, design-driven projects.
Vidya Devi Jindal Paramedical College, Haryana, by SpaceMatters was designed to be a mound emerging from the earth, hence, the low, horizontal form. Red sandstone and brown-coloured concrete recreate earthy palettes of the prehistoric landscape.

One of the first decisions jointly taken by the clients and the design team lead by SpaceMatters was to locate the pavilion in public urban spaces. While this may seem like an obvious choice, similar cultural events in India have been largely confined to institutional spaces such as museums and cultural centres.
This project familiarised us with the ground realities on site, and being challenged in this manner made us reconsider our attitude towards the built environment, to attention to detail, and quality of construction we are satisfied with.
The Snohetta + SpaceMatters design for the Bihar Museum is designed as an iconic setting for the invaluable historic artefacts housed in the erstwhile Patna Museum, while providing an inclusive and vibrant public domain for the city, underscoring the importance of Museums in a contemporary democratic setting. This public domain crucially promotes a sense of collective ownership by engaging a broader audience in a deeper conversation.
