Founded in 2011, ArchitectureLive! began as a platform for architects, designers, and enthusiasts to collaborate on critical dialogues on our built environment in India. Over the years and thanks to the many people who have been a part of ArchitectureLive!, the digital platform has evolved into a media space, expanding into South Asia, working on dismantling the barriers between architectural knowledge and public engagement, recognising that open access to the design discourse is also essential to the process of shaping our built environment.
Our approach to this dialogue around the built environment encompasses three key pillars:
Accessibility:
Architectural knowledge shouldn’t be gatekept by specialised vocabulary or institutionalised access. Rather it should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or expertise. We strive to dismantle this boundary so that dialogues around the built becomes an accessible narrative for the diverse communities ad recognising that “expertise” exists far beyond the boundaries of the architectural institutions.
Inclusivity:
For a platform to be inclusive, it means actively reshaping whose narratives are shared to inform our collective understanding. ArchitectureLive! is a space for perspectives that historically were and continue to be excluded from architectural discourse, understanding that systemic barriers continue to determine who gets to contribute to the conversations about the built environment.
Empowerment:
ArchitectureLive! has been built with an infrastructure for everyone including the students, the public, the workers in the industry, the designers, the communities to share their expertise, to interrogate the architectural practice and pedagogy, to engage in critical dialogues, and contribute to the collective understanding of the built.
ArchitectureLive! is committed to its mission of making architectural knowledge accessible, inclusive, and empowering through sustained dialogues, critical reflections, and collaborative learning. We believe that by fostering open dialogue and collaboration, we can shape a more informed, engaged, and diverse architectural community.
