Collective Project is a boutique design studio founded in Bangalore, India by partners Cyrus Patell and Eliza Higgins in 2013. The studio’s investigations occur at a variety of scales; from furniture and interiors to residential and institutional buildings. Current projects include high-end residential interiors in Mumbai as well as private homes in Bangalore, Alibag, Coonoor and Hyderabad. The studio is also passionate about their institutional work, including a rural school for cement factory worker’s children that is currently under construction in Andra Pradesh. In 2020 and 2021. the studio has been included on the AD 100 list of the most influential designers in India.

Cyrus Patell has over fifteen years of experience as an architect working in India and New York. In advance of pursuing a Masters at Yale, he worked in Mumbai for the office of Rahul Mehrotra (RMA Architects), where he managed a wide range of projects from conceptual development in the office to construction in the field. Prior to moving to Bangalore in 2013, he worked in New York City as a project architect for the large and internationally recognized design firm, KPF on towers in India and China.

Eliza Higgins has worked at a variety of scales ranging from product design to a 40-story mixed-use tower. In addition to her residential and cultural experience, she was a core member of the design team on two boutique museum hotels with the New York based architecture firm Deborah Berke & Partners Architects. Following DBPA, she worked for Diller Scofidio + Renfro, one of New York’s most respected and innovative architecture firms. She has been a guest critic at Yale University, Parsons School of Design, University at Buffalo and Roger Williams University.

The work of CollectiveProject has been featured in multiple national and international publications including World Landscape Architecture (Korea), Architectural Digest (India), Domus (India/Italy), Gestaltan Books (Germany), Design Anthology (HK/Australia) and Habitus Living (Australia).

Approach

First and foremost, we believe in the architectural experience – combining spatial narratives, landscape and materials. Our approach is progressive, open and fluid – drawing inspiration from site, culture, environment and technology. Our work mediates between multiple scales, being both detail and conceptually driven.

Representation

Our studio strongly believes in informative and energetic graphic representation to assist in establishing an active and collaborative relationship with our clients. We work digitally in 2-D, 3-D and physical model for every design project.
