Rita is an architect and artist who, after completing her B.Arch and M.Sc in Sustainable Environmental Design, has worked on multiple architecture and art projects. With a keen interest in cultural practices, craft techniques and sustainability she specializes in art installations, designing furniture with recycled material and exploring ways in which architecture affects and reflects the politics of our times. She began her career by working with the Development Alternatives Group with capacity building for low carbon climate resilient construction techniques in small towns and rural areas in various Indian states. She works independently as a mural artist to create large scale hand-made installations that integrate the architectural elements spaces into the artwork. She has taught in the B.Arch programs at the University School of Architecture & Planning at GGSIP University, Sushant School of Art & Architecture, Gurgaon and School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi.
