Registrations open: Towards an Ecological Landscape-3, workshop at BNCA, Pune

On behalf of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA - MKSSS) Pune, we would like to invite you to the workshop, "Towards an Ecological Landscape-3 (TEL-3-2019)" being organised at our premises on the 21st September 2019 (Saturday), 9 am to 6 pm, followed by field workshops on 22nd September 2019 (Sunday).

BNCA - Towards and Ecological Landscape Workshop

On behalf of the Department of Landscape Architecture, Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA – MKSSS) Pune, we would like to invite you to the workshop, “Towards an Ecological Landscape-3 (TEL-3-2019)” being organised at our premises on the 21st September 2019 (Saturday), 9 am to 6 pm, followed by field workshops on 22nd September 2019 (Sunday). The theme of the seminar is ‘RESTORING LANDSCAPES- Public, Private & Design Initiatives’, which intends to bring forth the landscape restoration initiatives practiced in private, public and design domains by professionals/ common people/ clients, others at their own level and also as a collaborative effort.

Day 1 we have lined up 12 amazing speakers (and their projects) from across the country and on day 2 there is choice of field 3 workshops.

Mysore based Satheesha from Junglescapes will present their award winning community based ecological restoration work work from Bandipur landscape, Saili Palande-Datar will talk about the landscape of the nomadic Dhangars of the Deccan, Jui Pethe from Nashik will present her work in protecting Anjaneri working with with community, commons, biodiversity and culture, Permaculturist Astrid Rao and Landscape Architect Anushree  Chitnis will speak of the Native Place, a launching pad for para-gliders in Karjat as a personal and collaborative experience of living and evolving with ecology, Shilpa Avate will speak about her ongoing work on Building Biodiversity awareness through initiatives in the Symbiosis Lavale Campus, Pune based firm, Lemnion will talk about their initiatives of Ecological restoration of waterbodies in Pune, Landscape Architects Anushree Chitnis, Sonali Dahotre, Manjiri Mahajan will in individual presentations share their respective approaches  of Designing with ecology in mind. Senior Landscape Architect and mentor Varsha Gavandi will talk about her ongoing engagement with ecology as a means of achieving a balanced landscape, Scientist

Pankaj Koparde will share his pathbreaking work on the landscape (waterscape!) of Dragonflies.

Delhi based Landscape Architect Akshay Kaul has kindly agreed to share his long-term association with ecology through two of his projects in the plenary session

On Day 2 participants will have a choice of 3 exciting field workshops/visits with; Aditi Deodhar on Jeevitnadi (The Living River) and Brownleaf (half day workshop); Ketaki Ghate of Oikos on Landscape restoration (full day workshop); Kastubh Moghe, and Senior Architect Nachiket Patwardhan on a Biodiverse campus (half day workshop)

Participation for Day 1: INR 2000 (INR 1500 for students with valid I-cards)

Participation for Day 2: Varies as per workshop
