Inspired from the blend of modern lifestyle essentials along with the impression of Colonial theme, this residence is created with a thought of luxurious & modern interiors having views into lush green landscape. The layout attempts to dissolve boundaries between the indoor & outdoor spaces with effective means of transition space with its abundance of natural light, ventilation & scenic views.
The design is sensitive to the natural environment & vegetation on the site integrated in interior courtyards. Keeping with the client’s brief the residence is a literal manifestation of tranquil haven allowing efficacy with extravagance facilitating spiritual connection of man with his environment.
Nestled amidst a sprawling plot, this residence is designed such that minimal heat could penetrate inside but at the same time maximum natural light and ventilation floods the interior spaces. The site nests in the outskirts from the main city, in a developing residential area, with the north-east, southeast & south -west side abutting the road.
The key features of the project were being surrounded with lush green landscape throughout, magnificent and organic spaces created both indoor & outdoor, double heighted living area to create a connection between the private & public areas. Bold and grand white interiors with all the personal leisure’s and a central fountain visible from several spaces greatly contribute to the overall connectivity and design. Each of these landscape courts unfolds a different experience and theme to a user.
The exterior walls are interrupted throughout the building with defining big windows and balconies as if it were an extension of the interior spaces. The wooden element (fundermax) were kept at sight, as an aesthetical option, integrating them as part of the design of the façades.
The Magnitude of the entrance creates an impact with the elegant & overwhelming double-heighted patio. The entire composition creates a certain sense of arrival, intensified by the wonderful play of light & shadow that is enacted throughout the day. The exciting interplay of the façade is observed at every front with some exciting combinations.
The internal spatial experience is centered around a feeling of contentedness to the outside, and also within through a seamless orchestration of volumes. All the spaces enjoy the carefully decorated landscaped surroundings and thereby create a refreshing atmosphere. Large windows, openness, proper air circulation without the heat meandering inside, views to the greenery compliments the comfortable environment in the interiors.
Stepping within, we first encounter a vestibule with courts on either side which acts as a simple, graceful space that hints at the design narrative within. Just opposite the main entry vestibule is the drawing room, immersed within the green spaces. The drawing room is along with the infinite connection with the garden & an inbuilt courtyard. The lobby has an informal
living area segregated partially through levels that not at all disrupts the views of the fountain from any part of the space. The palatial kitchen on the other side has views to the landscape outsides. The island kitchen was designed with the fusion of modern & colonial concepts with an inbuilt dinning space, a segregated utility and storage spacee. The guest bedroom was positioned further beyond this area being the only private space on this floor. The guest room is equipped with a private balcony & garden space. The first floor is designed as a private space with three bedrooms, hometheatre & gymnasium with a view of the open terrace in the front. The interior elements are carefully selected to be natural and integrated with the surrounding landscape. Woods and marbles were generally used to craft the interior décor, to be in harmony with the outdoors and to express grandeur.
The material palette of the house primarily revolves around a combination of Italian stones(michael angelo, silver river, black portico) ,granite (steel grey, black pearl, blue pearl, coffee brown) and wood(teak, pine ,plywood for furnitures & pergo for flooring). To introduce softness in the spaces, bright and pastel hues were sued for the furnishings and upholstery. Large openings make the interiors bright and lively. The result is a structure that is gently extroverted yet retains enough privacy.
The interiors are adorned with magnificent furniture designs aiding in increasing the visual capacity of spaces. The boldness of white balances the subtleness of grey & wood and compliments the indoor and outdoor greens in the most natural way. In terms of interior design, it has a palatial style with some modern elements: big panels, straight and simple lines, materialized by variation in wood, veneer, laminate surfaces, granite & tiles (porcelian tiles ,glass mosaic, mosaic tiles). Finishes mainly used were lacquered polyurethane finish for the furniture’s & texture paints for the surfaces.
