2.21% of the population in India is disabled. This percentage, though seemingly low as a statistic, accounts for a population of 26.8 million citizens.

With an aim to build awareness and action towards Universal Design by designing and building a model centre for universal accessibility at the existing premises of Deepshikha Institute of Child Development and Mental Health, Ranchi, Ethos Foundation is inviting applications for its new fellowship on Universal Design.

The fellow chosen will be working under Prof. Sarosh Anklesaria and his team at Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, along with Ar. Atul Saraf, Atulya Architects and IIA Jharkhand Chapter, for a 3-month timeline, syncing with a semester at CMU.

This initiative is designed to create a Model Centre in the heart of Jharkhand’s Capital City, which all future generations of designers can cite when faced with the question, “How can design empower everyone without barriers?”

Young architects and designers who are enthusiastic and sensitive to the importance of Universal Design with prior research or project experience in this topic will be preferred.

The last date for registration and submission is March 12, 2023. Check out the following link to register and find detailed information on the fellowship.
